(***This post is about my previous blog title, but the information about it is still good! I just changed the title for a more modern look***)
I thought that I might as well explain why I decided to title my blog, "Finding Happiness in a Modern World". I recently became a christian and with this sudden and wonderful shift in my life has helped me realize a lot of things in the world that I would've otherwise over looked. Things such as the constant violence, indecency to women and children, abortion, murder, corruption in business practices, and the list goes on.
What has really effected my mood has been the tween and teenage population. Mostly the girls. It is just so sad how the girls nowadays think that they need to sex themselves up, pack on the eyeliner, straighten their hair until it burns, and wear those ridiculously tight Victoria Secret yoga pants. Those pants, which may be comfortable when properly sized, have been a statement piece of the teenage generation. In the worst way... ex: http://thechive.com/2011/07/26/everything-looks-better-in-yoga-pants-31-photos/ Women are constantly being objectified left and right, and young women are falling into their trap. With these messages, how are young women suppose to believe they are beautiful people not sex objects...

And those images aren't just in the advertisements, girls in real life high schools have put that materialism and sexualization to use in their daily wardrobe. This stereotype is widely known as the popular crowd, helping to spread its spiritual ugliness around to the wider population.
I don't even know how to help this problem. It's so frustrating and it makes me so worried and scared about the possibility of having a daughter some day. Young girls should be at the park playing hot lava, not at the mall trying to look "hot".
This popular trend is just one of the many things that deeply sadden me. Another thing that I have had trouble converting to and understanding is the constant growth toward the use of technology. There are toddler versions of iPads, and video games. Walking through the mall (which I should seriously avoid) you can see kids as young as 8 texting on a cell phone, and not their parent's phone either. I just don't understand it and there are many beautiful things of God's earth are falling to the wayside because of it. Things such as, enjoying time outside instead of on technology to entertain us, communication in person or with letters because of texting and email, and parents relying on the distraction of technology to lighten their parental responsibilities.
My heart just hurts when I think about it and how its inevitably going to take over our lives. There's no going back to nature and beauty, and this just breaks my heart. I wish I could understand how to enjoy these things, or even to use them to bring out the beauty of God.
With all of the things in the world to put a persons mood down, it is hard to find everyday happiness and joy. I am hoping that growing closer to God will help me find that God's grace and the beauty in the world outweighs the sadness and evil in the world, no matter how much there is or will be.
