So, as many before me, I just watched the movie, Into the Wild. It was glorious. I do wonder whether others who viewed the same movie felt the same overwhelming sense of awe, delight, vastness, or insignificance. The world around us is much more beautiful than we give it credit for. There is more splendor in a blade of grass amoung a lush forest than in the most recently popularized youtube sensation. There is more to this crummy earth existence and few of us can comprehend how imparitive it is that we grasp it while we can. What is worth value now anyways. We as a society value cars and job titles more than our family or our unity as a country. In such a me first environment, how can one even imagine, or dream, or flourish, or grow. Intellectually, spiritually or otherwise. We use our mouths before our minds and that right there is an epidemic. We can give more blows through or meaningless words than any action could ever express. And we aren't careful. We don't tiptoe around a split second thought or feeling, we as a collective unit jump and stomp on other peoples dreams, ideas, values, or viewpoints.
And it is a horrific mess.
All a mere humanoid like myself can do is immerse themself in culture and feed their soul with what's good. Even if ultimately ignorance is bliss and ignoring the stupidity of it all is the only real key to legitimate joy.
